Facilities for providing such care are rare in Armenia and are concentrated in Yerevan, the capital. In Goris, a city at the heart of the war due to its location on the border of Artsakh, no such facilities existed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much like the needs of war victims, chronic neurological and orthopedic pathologies (e.g., stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain and spinal cord tumors, neurodegenerative diseases, spinal pathologies) are rarely treated in Armenia. This is due to a lack of suitable facilities in the regions.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-08dce5d e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"08dce5d\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be1e999 elementor-widget elementor-widget-side-by-side-colored\" data-id=\"be1e999\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"side-by-side-colored.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        <section class=\"side-by-side-colored-section\">\n                        <div class=\"section-column image-left d-flex\">\n                <div class=\"col-12 col-md-6\">\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.santearmenie.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/13-Rehab2-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\">\n                <\/div>\n                <div class=\"col-12 col-md-6 text-content\" style=\"background-color: #E30613 \">\n                    <div class=\"paragraph\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In November 2021, in order to treat chronic neurological and orthopedic pathologies in the Syunik region, Sant\u00e9 Arm\u00e9nie set up an outpatient physical therapy and neuro-orthopedic rehabilitation facility in Goris for patients age 16 and over. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rehabilitation team at this hospital is employed by Sant\u00e9 Arm\u00e9nie and is composed of the following professionals:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One coordinating physician<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three physical therapists <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One speech therapist <\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One psychologist<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n        \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea06b09 elementor-widget elementor-widget-side-by-side-colored\" data-id=\"ea06b09\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"side-by-side-colored.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n        <section class=\"side-by-side-colored-section\">\n                        <div class=\"section-column image-right d-flex\">\n                <div class=\"col-12 col-md-6\">\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.santearmenie.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/36-Rehab.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n                <\/div>\n                <div class=\"col-12 col-md-6 text-content\" style=\"background-color: #E30613 \">\n                    <div class=\"paragraph\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The entire staff is supervised by French volunteers working in Dr. Karine Chahbazian's Neurology-Neurosurgery Follow-up and Rehabilitation Care Department at the Bic\u00eatre University Hospital, located on the outskirts of Paris. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modeled after the outpatient adult physical therapy and neuro-orthopedic rehabilitation facility established by Sant\u00e9 Arm\u00e9nie in the city of Goris, a similar hospital for children is due to open in Goris in 2024. <br><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This center will accommodate children ages 4 to 16, offering them care similar to that provided by the hospital for adults.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n        \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Physical therapy and neuro-orthopedic rehabilitation Director: Dr. Karin\u00e9 Chahbazian As a direct consequence of the war in Artsakh, there is an urgent need to care for wounded soldiers and civilians requiring physical therapy and neuro-orthopedic rehabilitation.
